The violin is a Western musical instrument known for its elegance. Surprisingly, a third of the world’s violins are produced in a Chinese town -- Huangqiao in east China's Jiangsu Province. In this town of about 200,000 people, nearly 1/6 of the population is engaged in the musical instrument industry.
With over 200 enterprises, Huangqiao produces more than one million violins each year, exported to nearly 90 countries and regions worldwide. It has built a reputation for craftsmanship and excellence, earning it the title “Cremona of the East.”
