Social and judicial circles of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region held rallies on Wednesday to strongly condemn the violent acts of storming the Legislative Council (LegCo) complex on Monday.

"We strongly condemn the mob for paralyzing the Legislative Council, the development of economy and people's livelihood," said Wu Huanyan, chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Fujian Associations at a rally.

"We fully support the police to enforce the law solemnly and arrest the thugs according to the law as soon as possible. We fully support the judicial organs to prosecute their criminal liability according to the law."

Chau On Ta Yuen, an honorary consultant of the Hong Kong Federation of Fujian Associations, said they have gathered to unanimously condemn the violence against the Legislative Council on Monday night and express their voice.

A Hong Kong resident also expressed his condemnation against the mob.

"We have seen those thugs storming. The core of the Hong Kong government is the rule of law. All the things in the Legislative Council were destroyed by them. They also destroyed the rule of law in Hong Kong. So we support the government to arrest these thugs and punish them according to the law," said a Hong Kong resident, who did not give his name.

Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, a member of LegCo, said the violence ruined Hong Kong's reputation and would affect its business environment in the future.

"It is humiliating for Hong Kong. It destroys the reputation of Hong Kong as a safe city and will affect the business environment in the long run. Those who have violated the law, who encourage and harbor law-breakers have really harmed Hong Kong and will finally harm those at the grassroots. So we strongly condemn them and hope that the police will bring the mob to justice," she said.
