(ECNS) — China's auto industry reached a record high in the first four months of 2025, with production and sales both surpassing 10 million units for the first time, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said Monday.
From January to April, the country produced 10.175 million vehicles and sold 10.06 million, representing year-on-year increases of 12.9% and 10.8%, respectively.
The new energy vehicle (NEV) sector continued its rapid expansion, with 4.429 million units produced and 4.3 million sold during the period—up 48.3% and 46.2% compared to the same period last year. NEVs accounted for 42.7% of all new vehicle sales.
China also saw strong performance in vehicle exports. A total of 1.937 million were exported from January to April, up 6% year-on-year. NEV exports reached 642,000 units, a 52.6% surge compared to the same period in 2024.
