1. President Xi Jinping concludes trip to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia
Chinese President Xi Jinping concluded his trip to three Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia for state visits.
Xi called on China and Vietnam to respond to the external uncertainties with friendly cooperation and socialist strengths, and propel the ship of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future to sail along the right waterway.
During his visit to Malaysia, he said China is ready to work with the Malaysian side to build a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future, so as to usher in new "Golden 50 Years" for bilateral ties.
In Cambodia, he said that the two sides should keep in mind the well-being of their people and the progress of humanity, strive to set an example for building a community with a shared future for mankind in the course of advancing their respective modernization endeavors, and join hands to become forces for peace, stability and progress in a world undergoing profound transformations unseen in a century.

2. China's Q1 GDP grows 5.4%
Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday showed that China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 5.4 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, hitting 31,875.8 billion yuan (about $4337.752 billion). It marks a very strong start for the whole year.

3. Chinese factory workers flock to TikTok, offering low-price goods direct to U.S. consumers
Factory workers in China are increasingly using TikTok to attract American consumers by showcasing products at appealingly low prices.
These factories claim to produce items for major U.S. brands, such as Lululemon and Nike, yet instead of promoting their branded clients, workers encourage American shoppers to bypass retail markups and tariffs by purchasing goods directly from the source.
The White House issued a Fact Sheet about Section 232 investigation on its website on Tuesday, saying that China faces up to a 245 percent tariff on imports to the United States as a result of its retaliatory actions.

4. China Pavilion opens at Osaka Expo
The China Pavilion officially opened on Sunday at the Osaka Expo, with an opening ceremony held in front of the pavilion's main building, which resembles a traditional Chinese scroll.
Osaka Expo 2025 will run from April 13 to October 13, 2025. The China Pavilion, one of the largest foreign self-built pavilions at the event, covers approximately 3,500 square meters.
Inspired by traditional Chinese calligraphy scrolls, the pavilion's architectural design embodies the theme of "Building a Community of Life for Human and Nature -- Future Society of Green Development."

5. NVIDIA founder hopes further cooperation with China
NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang visited Beijing on Thursday afternoon. Huang said that China is one of the most important markets for NVIDIA, and he's willing to further promote cooperation with Chinese enterprises.

6. Human-robot marathon held in Beijing
The world's first half-marathon featuring humanoid robots' participation kicked off on Saturday in Beijing, with about 20 teams from across China.
The human-robot race covered the full 21.0975-kilometer half marathon distance, with seven supply stations along the course. To ensure safety, organizers have separated the lanes using guardrails and greenbelts, allowing both groups to share the same route while running on designated tracks.
Unlike traditional indoor or lab-based testing, the outdoor marathon serves as a comprehensive test of humanoid robot functionality in complex real-world environments.

7. 137th Canton Fair kicks off in Guangzhou
The 137th edition of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, kicked off on Tuesday in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, with the number of export exhibitors exceeding 30,000 for the first time in the history of this famous event.

The 5th CICPE runs from April 13 to 18 in Hainan. This year's CICPE has drawn over 4,100 brands from over 70 countries and regions.

9. Shared drones deployed in NE China's Dalian
A batch of shared drones debuted at the Xinghai Park in Shahekou District in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province, on Monday.
The city first deployed two shared drone cabinets, each equipped with five DJI Neo drones. Users can unlock the cabinets by scanning QR codes with their smartphones, enabling instant drone access in under a minute, making the process incredibly convenient.

10. Beijing records strongest gale in April over a decade
The Beijing Meteorological Service reported on Sunday that strong winds swept through the city from Friday evening to Sunday. Among the 20 national-level meteorological stations in Beijing, 13 recorded wind gusts surpassing the highest levels seen in April over the past decade, while 8 stations reported record-breaking April gusts since their establishment.
