Intangible cultural heritage adds vitality to Spring Festival celebrations

Beyond festive foods and goods, Chinese people immersed themselves in delightful experiences featuring multiple cultural elements during the ongoing Spring Festival holiday.　

The dazzling "iron flowers"　performance,　a traditional Chinese folk art preserved as a national intangible cultural heritage, has been staged in northwest China's Shaanxi Province　to celebrate the Spring Festival.　The "iron flower beating" is a folk art performance of throwing molten iron to create sparkling streaks of light.　　

The Chinese Yingge dance, a unique art form combining drama, dance, and martial arts, has wowed visitors in Shantou, south China's Guangdong Province.　

A Jinzhou dragon dance performance was staged at the Shenyang Palace Museum in Shenyang, northeast China's Liaoning Province, displaying diverse formations and vigorous dance moves. Jinzhou Dragon Dance, with a history of over a hundred years, is an intangible cultural heritage in China.　

In Lanzhou City, northwest China's Gansu Province, a Shehuo show was held as part of the Spring Festival celebrations. Shehuo, a traditional folk celebration in China, is a festivity in multiple forms consisting of dragon dance, lion dance, traditional Chinese opera, drum playing and other folk performances that may vary in different regions.　

The Spring Festival, the social practice of the Chinese people in celebration of the traditional new year, was added by UNESCO to its list of intangible cultural heritage in December last year.
