(ECNS) -- More than 170 new breeds of space crops have been planted at the Core Demonstration Base of Space Breeding in Tongzhou, Beijing.
China began to carry breeds into space since the 1980s, and now space breeding products are all around us.
It usually takes eight years to breed space seeds of grain crops, such as rice, wheat, and corn. The seeds have to undergo a series of procedures like space travel before entering the market. It usually takes three to five years to breed space seeds of horticultural crops such as fruits and vegetables.
Space breeding products have already been put on the dining table in our daily life.
China's achievements made in space breeding have been widely recognized by international peers.
