(ECNS) -- A small antiqued sightseeing train loaded with tourists embarked from the Niuhang train station Sunday, running back and forth along the 3.5-kilometer-long railtrack at Fenghuangzhou citizen park in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province.

Niuhang Station was the terminal of Nanchang-Jiujiang Railway, the first self-run line in Jiangxi Province.

As Nanchang's first railway station, it was once an important transportation hub.

The Station has survived severe tests of the Nanchang Uprising in 1927 and Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-1945).

Troops that participated in the Uprising disembarked here and crossed the Gan River by ferries to enter Nanchang City.

The Nanchang Uprising, led by the Communist Party of China, saw some 20,000 soldiers breaking away from the Kuomintang forces, and produced the first CPC commanded army that eventually evolved into the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Niuhang Station and Nanchang Uprising Exhibition Hall were built to commemorate the site where Uprising troops crossed Gan River to fight.

At present, a riverside sightseeing belt themed on Jiangxi's industry, which incorporates railway and dock culture has been established in Nanchang based on Niuhang Station.

Tourists can take the sightseeing train to view the city scenery and learn more about the vicissitudes of the century-old railway station.
