(ECNS) -- The Beijing Meteorological Service reported on Sunday that strong winds swept through the city from Friday evening to Sunday. Among the 20 national-level meteorological stations in Beijing, 13 recorded wind gusts surpassing the highest levels seen in April over the past decade, while 8 stations reported record-breaking April gusts since their establishment.
According to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, all lines across the city's rail transit network have resumed normal operations since Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has introduced specific measures in areas such as facility repairs, production management, and insurance services to guide districts in accelerating agricultural recovery. These efforts aim to minimize disaster-related losses and ensure a stable supply of agricultural products.
Zhai Liang, chief forecaster at the Beijing Meteorological Observatory, stated that the recent gales featured extremity, long duration, and extensive impact.
Zhang said that from 5 p.m. on Friday to 4 p.m. on Sunday, 517 monitoring stations across the city recorded wind speeds of Force 8 or above, accounting for 91 percent of all stations. Across the city, 345 stations reported wind speeds between Force 9 and 11, accounting for 60 percent, while 16 stations recorded extreme gusts reaching Force 12 to 14, accounting for 3 percent.
To ensure the safety of students, Beijing has instructed mountainous schools, boarding schools, and other schools with special circumstances to fully consider the potential impact of the weather and adjust student return times flexibly.
