(ECNS) -- Three Philippine nationals suspected of conducting espionage activities were arrested for targeting China's military facilities, Chinese state security authorities announced on Thursday.
The suspects, identified as David Serva?ez, Albert Endencia, and Nathalie Plizardo, were allegedly involved in gathering sensitive military information, said China' Ministry of State Security (MSS).
Investigations revealed that the group had been recruited by Philippine intelligence services since 2021 to carry out clandestine operations in China.
They were arrested in accordance with the law after meticulous investigation and obtaining evidence, the MSS said.
The ministry stated that the case remains under investigation. It also issued a warning, urging foreign citizens in China to refrain from engaging in any espionage activities at the behest of overseas organizations or individuals.
