(ECNS) -- Southeast China's Xiamen Customs reported on Tuesday that from January 2022 to the end of February 2025, the city's total import and export trade with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries reached over 1 trillion yuan (approximately $140 billion). Exports accounted for 402.66 billion yuan, indicating continuous growth in trade volume.
Since the implementation of the RCEP three years ago, Xiamen has strengthened its economic and trade relations with other RCEP member countries.
Following the RCEP's entry into effect, Xiamen's exports of mechanical and electrical products to RCEP countries amounted to 186.23 billion yuan, accounting for 46.2 percent of the city's overall exports to these markets.
Among them, exports of automatic data processing equipment and parts, electrical appliances, and flat panel display modules reached 34.55 billion yuan, 20.47 billion yuan, and 18.88 billion yuan, respectively.
"The RCEP has opened new markets for our exports, provided flexible tariff reduction options, strengthened our negotiating position with international clients, and enhanced the stability of overseas orders," said a local exporter representative.
Over the past three years, Xiamen Customs has issued over 370,000 preferential certificates of origin for exports to RCEP member countries, covering goods worth over 134.1 billion yuan.
These certificates have facilitated tariff reductions totaling approximately 6.7 billion yuan. The preferential tariffs have benefited various exported goods, including mechanical and electrical products, apparel and footwear, and aluminum products. (By Zhao Li)
