(ECNS) - More than 80 percent of Hong Kong university students are willing to work and grow their careers in the Chinese mainland, according to a survey conducted by the HKUYA Student Exchange Network.
The association conducted the survey in February and March, finding that more than 90 percent expressed optimism about the country's future development prospects.
It also showed that nearly 75 percent of respondents believed there were many job opportunities in the mainland, the principle reason behind their willingness to work there.
More than 80 percent believed internship experiences in the mainland would enhance their competitiveness in the job market. Respondents generally expected that mainland internships would help them understand workplace culture and business environments.
The organization also announced that more than 200 students from Hong Kong will take a six-week internship during their summer vacation in mainland cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Harbin and Dalian, among them – with state-owned enterprises, cultural and creation production, governmental departments and other companies.
A student in her third year at the Hong Kong Baptist University is among the interns. She will work at Mei Lanfang Grand Theatre in Beijing, named after China's most famous practitioner of Peking opera.
