Chinese Table Tennis Association condemns rumors about former chief Liu Guoliang
(ECNS) — The Chinese Table Tennis Association (CTTA) has firmly condemned the spread of false online information concerning Liu Guoliang, executive vice president of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), chair of World Table Tennis (WTT), and former CTTA president.
He Xiao, secretary-general of the CTTA, currently with the Chinese team in Doha, said the national team is now undergoing adaptive training in Doha to prepare for the upcoming World Table Tennis Championships.
He pointed out that the online rumors circulating overseas have triggered unnecessary public attention. "As the championships approach and with ITTF elections ahead, we are taking steps to completely shield the team from the impact of such malicious attempts to tarnish the image of Chinese table tennis. We urge the public not to believe or spread rumors and to continue supporting Team China," he noted.
Liu is scheduled to travel to Doha on May 21 to attend the ITTF meeting.
